Employee Relations Advisor

Employee Relations Advisor: Caffè Nero

We are looking for a Employee Relations Advisor to join us at Caffè Nero. The role is based at our offices in Covent Garden, Central London.

This is a key position within the People Support Team, working collaboratively with our Operational and Head Office colleagues across the brands within the Caffè Nero Group in the UK. Employee Relations plays a big part in this role, along with the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of other HR work. It’s a great position in a growing and exciting business, where you can really see the difference you make every day.

The People Support Team is the first port of call for our teams looking for advice and information on all HR matters and supports our Line Managers when they need guidance on employee relations issues. Our Employee Relations Advisors need to be passionate and confident in providing sound ER advice, whilst helping to upskill and coach our Line Managers.

In this role you can expect to:

  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, particularly the broader Head Office People Team, People Partners, Area and Regional Managers – supporting, guiding and keeping them up to date on complex ER cases.
  • Provide sound ER advice in line with our cultural values and employment legislation, upskilling and coaching our Line Managers as you go.
  • Complete admin tasks as required, including all letter drafts relating to ER cases, upkeep and management of HR Database and employee files.
  • Update and maintain ER case notes in the case manager.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the People Support Team to share best practice and ensure a consistent approach to our work.
  • Support the ongoing development of our Line Manager ER knowledge through the delivery of workshops, inputting into content/design where needed.
  • Be part of project work to support the wider People Team objectives.

The right person:
Caffè Nero is a company with a very special culture and an open and friendly style of working. We operate at pace and in a high-energy, invigorating environment. We attract people with warmth and a positive outlook who genuinely enjoy working with others.

Whichever country you’re in, Caffè Nero has a culture in which close-knit relationships and trust are at its heart. At Caffè Nero, you truly feel part of a kind and caring family.

The Employee Relations Advisor will embrace and champion the Caffè Nero culture.  They will be curious and inquisitive, with an engaging personality, and an ability to connect with people across the business, whatever their job. On top of this they will have solid experience within HR/People Support/ER, quickly establishing themselves within the team.

You will:

  • Have solid experience in an Employee Relations advisory capacity, and be used to working a number of cases at any one time.
  • Be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of UK and ROI Employment Law.
  • Ideally have a hospitality or retail background, and thrive on the pace, challenges and rewards that this brings.
  • Have brilliant communications skills – both written and verbal.
  • Be a great team player who wants to be part of a supportive and collaborative function.

We’ve got some great benefits too:

  • Our Head Office is right in the middle of bustling Covent Garden, making it a really vibrant place to work.
  • You'll typically be in the office for 3 days each week, working from home for 2.
  • Access to our benefits platform, giving discounts at the touch of a button.
  • 25 days holiday per annum (plus bank holidays), rising with service.
  • 50% employee discount on handcrafted drinks and 40% employee discount on food.
  • Private medical care through Vitality.
  • Medicash (cashplan healthcare scheme).
  • Bonus scheme.
  • Supporting our team members to achieve their professional goals is important to us, so alongside your day to day work you may have an opportunity to complete a professional qualification with our learning partners.
  • Free hand-crafted drinks whilst you’re in the office - in your first week you’ll have Barista training, so you’ll know how to make the very best Caffè Nero coffee!

If this sounds like it could be your next role then we'd love to hear from you!
